When Scale Forms Inside a Kettle

Another one of my pet peeves is scale forming inside a kettle. Scaling happens too often when you store or boil tap water inside a kettle. Because of the scale, the water guage of the kettle can become cloudy.

Kettle manufacturers recommend using citric acid to get rid of the scale. But what if citric acid is not available in nearly stores? Here’s a very easy cleaning tip:

Vinegar and Water

  1. Mix equal parts of water and vinegar. It doesn’t matter what kind of vinegar you use.
  2. Heat up the mixture and let it boil for a few minutes.
  3. Pour the mixture inside the kettle and let it stand overnight.
  4. The following day, pour out the mixture and rinse the kettle thoroughly.

See, it’s very easy to remove the scale inside of a kettle. You don’t even need to go to stores looking for citric acid. All you have to do is look into your cupboards for some vinegar. You do have vinegar, don’t you? :)
