how to clean leather jacket

Leather jackets of great quality are, no doubt, expensive. I am sure that you do not want to waste your hard-earned money by ruining your leather. This is why proper cleaning, caring and storing your leather jackets is important.

If you just got your first leather jacket, or if you have ruined one too many of your leather jackets, lucky you. Today, I will be sharing how you can properly clean and store your leather jacket, so it will last you a long time.

Caring for Leather Jackets

  • Using gentle strokes, dust and remove particles from your leather jacket with a very fine, soft bristled brush.
  • Prepare three pieces of soft cloth.
  • Get the first cloth and moisten it with some leather conditioner. With small circular strokes, apply the conditioner onto your jacket. If the cloth is drying, add some more leather conditioner.
  • Get the second clean cloth. Again, with soft, circular strokes, buff the surface of the leather jacket.
  • Now the third cloth will be used to polish the metal buckles and snaps of your leather jacket.
  • To store your leather jacket, use a padded hanger, so you can be sure that the hanger won’t damage the sensitive material. Place the jacket inside a breathable fabric clothes bag and hang it in a dark, cool, closet.

See, it’s not that hard. Taking proper care of your leather jackets is easy as pie. No complicated materials, unknown cleaning solutions and extreme methods needed. Just a soft bristled brush, some leather conditioner and soft cloths will do the job of caring for your leather jacket just fine.
