How to Clean Books

Reading is, in my personal opinion, a very underrated hobby. These days, everything is digital. Books are now being set aside for e-Books. Buying paperbacks and hardbound books seem somewhat ages ago with the rise of electronic reading devices, specifically the Kindle.

I have nothing against e-books and e-book readers. It is just that, as someone who loves to read and collect books, there is something to be said about touching the book itself, savoring the smell of freshly opened book, the smell of ink on paper. There is something about turning each page as the plot thickens, each page more exciting than the last.

If you are like me, who loves collecting books, I am sure that you have once thought about how you can clean and maintain your book collection properly. You know what, regularly cleaning your books will help make them last longer.

In this post, I would like to share with you some book cleaning tips so you can enjoy your Amazon books for a long time.

Proper Book Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Soiled edges of books can be cleaned using a very fine sandpaper or a soft pencil eraser.
  • Instead of using a soft cloth when dusting your books, consider using a soft brush.
  • Protect valuable books and manuscripts from being infested by insects and termites, always keep a few pieces of sandalwood inside your bookcase.
  • A few dried leaves of Neem inside a page of a book can help keep away insects and silverfish.

I do hope you find these tips very helpful. Remember, your books are not just investments. They reflect your passion for knowledge and enriching your imagination. Do keep your books clean and well-maintained!
