Picture this. You are running late for work. You have just put on the first clothing you laid your hands on. You are balancing a hurried breakfast, while putting on your shoes, shuffling documents in your hands and getting your stuff ready for the day. Then it happened.
Your cup of coffee tipped accidentally and spilled everywhere – on the table, on the carpet and, unfortunately, your clothes.
Not a very good way to start the day, huh? And just imagine all the cleaning you have to do to remove all those coffee stains.
Fret not! I have some homemaking tips up my sleeve to help you deal with those nasty, nasty coffee stains. Don’t worry, all the tips I share are very easy to do!
Tricks on Removing Coffee Stains
- For fabrics, dip the stained part of a cloth in glycerine overnight, and wash with soap and water the following day.
- Fresh coffee stains from clothes may be removed by sponging a borax solution over the stain.
- Dissolve baking soda in water. Soak the stained area in the solution for an hour. Rinse the fabric in warm water.
- When you’re dining out and happened to spill coffee on your shirt, wet a table napkin with club soda and use this to sponge off the cofee stain.

I hate seeing smudges in my vanity mirror. I hate it even more when I cannot see myself in a mirror because it is not sparkly clear. I am sure my fellow moms would agree with me on this.
Now how do I deal with dirty, smudgy mirrors? I have several different homemaking tips just for you.
Mirror Cleaning Tips
- Remove sticky labels on mirrors by rubbing them with alcohol or nail polish remover.
- Clean mirrors by rubbing them with a clean soft rag dipped in methylated spirit (denatured alcohol). Afterwards, polish the mirror with a soft, dry cloth.
- To keep mirors sparkling, apply a thin film of soap with moisty fingers. Using a clean tissue, wipe the film of soap from the mirror and keep polishing.
- Add a dash of ammonia to water. Rub this solution on the surface of a mirror using a soft cloth. Dry and polish the mirror using a tissue paper.

Garlic is among the most famous and in demand spices to ever grace our dishes. However, not everyone may like its flavor. To some, garlic provides a very distinct aroma to a particular dish, but to others the flavor can be too strong.
I have two homemaking tips to share on how to neutralize the flavor of garlic in your food.
Baking Soda Helps Absorb the Strong Flavor of Garlic
While doing a taste testing before you take the dish out of the stove, you find out that you put in too much garlic and somehow ruined the recipe. I know it’s bad, but there’s hope for you! If you have baking soda in your pantry, you’re in luck! Add a pinch of baking soda into the dish and stir well. The baking soda absorbs the too strong aroma and flavor of the garlic, saving your precious recipe.
Parsley Effectively Neutralizes that Strong Garlicky Flavor
Put a few flakes of parsley inside a tea infuser. Place the brew into your sauce and let it steep while the dish simmers on the stove. The parsley then absorbs the heavy flavor or garlic.
Well there you have it. Two easy but effective ways to neutralize the strong garlic flavor in your dish. No need to panic, your special dinner party is saved.
