Hair Care Basics

If there is one thing that I love about myself, it would be my hair. I just love how long, straight and luxuriously shiny my crowning glory is. I wouldn’t trade my hair for anything in this world.

Yes, I have to admit maintaining long hair is not an easy task. But the effort is so worth it. At least to me. In spite of all the things I have to do as a mom and a homemaker, I make it a point to pamper myself and my favorite things about myself, one of which is my hair.

have beautiful, shiny, healthy hair

Having long hair takes effort, but it certainly is worth it.

You know what, it really does not matter if your hair is long or not. What is important is that your hair is healthy. Your hair should not be dry, if you can, make it as shiny as you possibly can. Also make sure that the fibers of your hair are strong, not brittle. And remember, split ends are a definite no-no.

Now could one possibly have super luxurious hair?In this post, I would like to remind you of some beauty tips on how to keep your hair healthy, shiny, beautiful and luxurious. You may already know these, as they are very, very basic. But keep in mind, you have to start somewhere. It’s all about regularly doing these simple steps that will make your hair healthy and beautiful.

Basic Hair Care Tips

  • Split ends! Who wants them? Definitely not me. To avoid these hideous split ends, make it a point to have your hair trimmed regularly. For short hair, have yours trimmed every six weeks. For long hair, have a trip to the salon every eight to twelve weeks.
  • I strongly suggest that you use real bristle brushes. Oh, and don’t forget to do a roundup of your brushes and combs. Do you have combs with missing teeth? Throw them away. Using these may damage your hair fibers.
  • The use of hair conditioners is high recommended, especially if your hair is longer than four inches. Even men should condition their hair, too. Using conditioners will help keep your hair soft and silky.
  • As much as possible, avoid getting harsh chemicals on to your hair. Don’t overdo hair relaxing procedures, hair coloring or hair perming. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get these done! Of course you can. I do have highlights in my hair, but I make it a point to not overdo it, and of course, I use hair products that are best suited for coloured hair. So this means that, if your hair is permed, there are shampoos and conditioners that work best with permed hair, and so on.

I do hope you find these tips very helpful. These tips may be very easy, and very basic, but don’t ignore them. Remember, you have to start at something.

Mommy Moments – New Year’s List

Mommy Moments

I brought myself kicking and screaming into 2010. Suffice it to say I’m not exactly an idealist about each new year being a fresh start. Some things may still suck and the suckiest things don’t really go away just because it is a new year. However, since becoming a mom, I realized that life is what I make it. See, I’ve always thought that maybe I’m just an unlucky broad for having the worst of times, or if I am just a bad bad broad deserving of all the shit I got in the recent years. Now that I am a mom, even if life keeps throwing doodoo at me, I do my best to at least keep sane and hope for the best that I am sane enough not to bring my family down with me. LOL

Anyhow, even if some dead weight is still clinging to me this year, I do know that there are some good things, priceless things, that are happening to me. Somehow, I am thankful.

So for my first Mommy Moments post, I give you all the good things I am looking forward to this start of the new decade.

My Family

My family, Christmas Holidays 2009

  • My son, Michael Alexis, is turning 4 this year, and with that comes a milestone in his life – PRESCHOOL! Are we ready for it? Hell yeah we are ready for school!
  • With my son at school, I do have a few hours for myself each day, hopefully this time will be used productively.
  • I promise to make my garden more beautiful than it ever was!
  • Hopefully, I will have the guts to stay focused in my goal to lose weight.
  • I really need some anger management classes/sessions/therapy of whatever you call it.

Those are just a few things I can think of, off the top of my head. I know I just have to stay focused (and calm) and I know I’ll be fine. After all, a life is boring without resolutions or goals. And the day to day hassles are for naught if we don’t have anything beautiful to look forward to.

How to Clean Venetian Blinds

how to clean venetian blinds

I like venetian blinds. I happen to find them very easy to clean. For some, venetian blinds may not be as stylish, because the usual blinds don’t always mix well with a room’s interior design. Sure, that may be the case, but venetian blinds are very convenient not to mention very easy to clean.

In this post, I would like to show you some homemaking tips on how to clean venetian blinds. Don’t worry, they’re very easy but very effective.

Tips on Cleaning Venetian Blinds

  • Rub wax or paraffin on the cords of venetian blinds to make them last much longer.
  • Wear old socks on your hands to facilitate the cleaning of each slat of the venetian blind.
  • When you are wearing old socks on your hands, use one hand to wash the venetial blind and the other hand to dry.
