So Far It’s Been Great

having fun in my garden

Well, that’s me in the picture, having fun in my garden. That huge silly expression of joy and laughter on my face makes me feel like I’m a kid again. So far, 2010 has been great to me. It’s only the start of the year, but, I am optimistic.

I’ve been very productive so far, actually. I had a lot of goals lined up and I’ve ticked off two of them. Odds and ends and errands are done to a perfect T. Everything’s running smoothly in my home. Sure, it’s a day-to-day routine. Nothing exciting. But it is so uncomplicated that I am content with things.

There are a lot of things that need to be done around here. Tend to my plants, play with my son, yell at my son, work some, yell at my son more for being such a gorgeous little pain in the ass (he’s annoying but he does it really well), do some renovating, go over an auto insurance quote, do grocery shopping. Little things, really. Every single day. But it keeps me happy and sane. Gone are the days when I actually look for some wild excitement.

I’m settled.

Things to Double Check for Road Safety

road assistance

Driving is never an easy thing to do. Not only are you trying to get from point A to B, but you are also making sure that you – the driver – and your passengers arrive safely to your destination.

Well actually, it’s not just you and the people in your vehicle you are thinking about. You are also making sure that the other motorists around you and the pedestrians are safe. And so it is a must that you check your vehicle’s condition before the trip, as well your physical condition.

Drive Safely, Double Check the Following

  • Check your vehicle frequently. Do a routine check of the following: brakes, engine, fuel reserves and airconditioner. Make sure that all your tires are properly inflated, and that you have a spare tire in hand.
  • Check yourself. You should always be aware of your physical condition. You need good vision and hearing, great coordination and fast reflexes when you drive. You must always be alert and responsive in order for you to be able to drive safely.
  • In addition to the previous point, never drive when you have been drinking alcohol, when you have been taking any prescription drugs or over-the-counter medicines that can make you drowsy, when have been emotionally upset or physically tired. These conditions can cause you to become careless and may lead to road accidents.
  • Make sure you have emergency numbers ready. It could be in your mobile phone or in a notepad/notebook stashed in your glove compartment or even in your bag. Should you have an emergency on the road, have the roadside assistance number within your reach.

Make it a habit to check and re-check your vehicle and your itinerary before leaving the house. Doing these things always will help you avoid hassles and even accidents. Be safe!

Hope for Mesothelioma Patients

I’ve just been reading Google News and I came across this article about a new research that gives hope to those suffering from a rare form of cancer called mesothelioma.

New York — In a recently published study, researchers have revealed that cancer can actually “seed” itself through the body, and that tumors can re-seed themselves even after having been surgically removed. This may lead to difficulty in treating certain diffuse, complex cancers such as mesothelioma, the asbestos cancer.

As someone who had lost several family members from cancer, I feel very hopeful knowing that studies are being done to help cancer patients survive. So finding news like this gives me hope for all the people – for cancer patients and their loved ones.

I remember a previous post in this blog before, about Susan Sommers’ unique method in curing cancer – alternative medicine and all. What do you think of that?
