Ballpoint Ink Stain Removal

Ballpoint Ink Stain

Ballpoint ink stain is probably the stain that I tackle with most frequently. It all started when I was a student, I used to have ballpoint pen ink stains on my uniform almost every day. I’m just thankful the inks stais hadn’t been so hard to remove from my uniforms, or my mother would have been annoyed :p

With a toddler (my son) and a grade schooler (our nanny’s daughter) at home, ballpen ink stains still happen. My son just loves nicking my pen and writing on the sofa, on the wall, and everywhere else.

Removing ballpoint ink stains is quite easy. Here are some ballpoint ink stain removal tricks you might want to try.

How to Remove Ballpoint Ink Stain

  • Rub a bar of soap over the ink mark. With a wet cloth, rub over the residue left by the soap. Repeat this procedure until the ink stain fades. Using a cotton ball or a soft cloth, dab some benzene over the stained area. Finally, wipe the area with a dry cloth.
  • Pour some methylated spirit or denatured alcohol on a piece of cloth. Rub the ballpoint ink stain gently until it fades. Wash the item in cold water and rinse as usual.
  • You can also use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl or ethyl) to remove the stain ballpoint pen ink. Wash the item with soap and lukewarm water.
  • For a quick fix, dab the ink stain with eau-de-cologne or nail polish remover. This trick works best when the stain is still fresh.

Simple tricks, aren’t they? There really is no need to fret everytime your favorite shirt or blouse gets written on with a ballpoint pen.

Who knew that a box of tissues could be so cute?

I was doing my usual grocery shopping when I spotted a shelf of cute boxes fitting for the Christmas holidays. Curious, I pushed my cart towards the shelf and was pleasantly surprised to find that they were boxes of tissues.

I kinda like the design of the box above. Like I said, it definitely goes together with the Christmas-y feel of my home – what with all the decoration I placed around the house. So unlike the generic tissue boxes that scream “LOOK AT ME I GOT TISSUES. USE ME!”

Now this is where I share a great find. The MyKleenexTissue website allows you to design your tissue box. Customize your box using different colors, backgrounds and graphics. You can even personalize it by using your own pictures and text!

I tried using the app on their website and this is what I came up with:

Get rid of those boring tissue boxes. Create a personalized tissue box now at MyKleenexTissue!

Would you subscribe to Suzanne Somers’ alternative cancer treatment?

Suzanne Somers book

Cancer treatment is a very sensitive issue to me. People close to my heart have fought this dreaded disease, some have won and survived while some finally succumbed to Cancer after a long and hard battle.

This is the reason why, while I was on the front page of MSN (and I don’t know why I haven’t changed the default page in Firefox) this morning, I just had to click on the link which took me to a page about Suzanne Somers and the alternative cancer treatment she subscribes to. Apparently, the American Cancer Society disagrees with her revelations on her book, Knockout, and considers the alternative cancer treatment featured in the book as risky.

Dr. Otis Browley, a practicing oncologist and the Chief Medical Officer of the American Cancer Society wrote a piece on CNN, saying,

She is a wonderful actress, and I wish she would stick to her first chosen profession. I know some people will hear her message, follow her advice because of her celebrity status and be harmed. Her medical advice may even cause death.

Personally, I do agree that because of Suzanne Somers’ status or popularity (She and her book have already been featured on various publications, websites and even on Oprah, of course there’s some relative popularity there), a lot of people who are seeking alternative treatment for cancer may just follow her advice.

I am happy that what she’s sharing with all of us actually works for her, but does it follow it would work for everyone else?
